The phone line
What happens when you call
One number, routed to an independent roofer who works in your town. Here is what to expect and what to have ready.
- 1
You call during line hours
The line is open Mon–Fri 8:30 am–7 pm, Sat 9 am–4 pm (Eastern). Your call is routed to an independent roofing contractor who works in your area, or to a partner that connects you with one.
- 2
You describe the house and the roof
Expect questions about the town, the type of house, what the roof is made of now, roughly how old it is and what made you call: leaks, missing shingles, granules in the gutters, or simply its age.
- 3
The roofer arranges a visit
Nobody can scope a replacement from a phone call. The roofer looks at the roof, the decking where possible, the chimney and wall flashing, the attic and the gutters, then writes up a proposal.
- 4
You decide, in writing
In Connecticut the contract must be written and signed and must explain your right to cancel through the third business day. Nothing obliges you to hire the roofer you spoke with.
Have these ready if you can
- Your street address and town
- What the roof is made of now, if you know: asphalt shingle, slate, metal or a flat membrane
- Roughly when it was last replaced
- Whether the house is in a local historic district
- Whether an insurance claim is open, and the claim number
Who you are talking to
HartfordRoofingPro.com is a referral line, not a roofing company. Your call is routed to a participating independent roofing contractor or to a call-routing partner that connects you with one, and we may be paid for that connection. Calls may be recorded for quality and billing.
Before you sign anything, check the roofer’s Connecticut registration. Our step-by-step guide shows how.
